If this sounds familiar
You come home and she's in exactly the spot you left her in, then wants to play at midnight.
You've bought six toys. She batted each one twice and now they all live under the sofa.
She's indoor-only, you can see she's bored, and you're out of the house nine hours a day.
Why you'll love it
A toy that only moves when you move it is a toy your cat has already finished with.
Moves on its own
360-degree rotation, changing direction whenever it hits a wall or a chair leg. Unpredictable, which is the entire point - a toy a cat can predict is a toy she's finished with.
Stops on its own
Shuts off after 45 minutes. It won't run itself flat while you're out, and your cat won't get sick of it in a single sitting.
Four triggers, not one
LED light, a feather, a bell and catnip sealed inside the shell. Cats that ignore the light usually come for the feather.
Charges by USB
An hour and a half on any USB port gives about four hours of play. Nothing to unscrew, no batteries to keep buying.
How it works
Why cats abandon toys that don't move
Will it fit
about the size of a plum
saves the charge
across several sessions
any USB port
Check your floors before you order. This needs a hard surface to roll on — wood, tile or laminate. On thick carpet or a deep rug it stalls, and on a floor crowded with chair legs it wedges itself every couple of minutes.
Simple to use
Charge it, put it down, walk away.
Charge it fully first
An hour and a half on any USB port. Do it before the first run so you're not interrupting a session to plug it in - the first impression is the one that decides whether she bothers again.
Put it down and step back
Switch it on and set it on a hard floor with room to run. Don't hand it to her and don't chase her with it. Cats come towards things that move away from them, not towards them.
Use it for the gap, not instead of you
Best switched on as you leave the house or while you're cooking. It fills hours she'd otherwise sleep through. It doesn't replace ten minutes of wand play in the evening.
Great for
- Indoor cats with no garden access
- Cats left alone through the working day
- Kittens and young cats with energy to burn
- Homes with hard floors - wood, tile or laminate
- Multi-cat households, where one chases and the rest watch
- Cats who've lost interest in every static toy you own
Not ideal for
- Thick carpet or deep rugs - it won't roll properly
- Very timid cats, who can be frightened by something that moves by itself
- Determined chewers. The ABS shell won't survive being bitten through.
- Rooms crowded with furniture legs, where it wedges itself every two minutes
- Replacing interactive play. Your cat still needs you and a wand for ten minutes a day.

What an automatic toy can and can't do
Why the hunt has to finish
Stalk, chase, pounce, catch. A laser dot gives a cat the first three and nothing to show for it, which is why behaviourists tell you to end a laser session by letting the cat catch a real toy. A ball she can actually pin solves that on its own.
Why novelty is the whole game
Cats habituate fast. The most effective thing you can do with any toy is put it away for a fortnight and bring it back out. Three toys rotated weekly beat nine toys left on the floor, every time.
Why the floor decides it
This rolls under its own power, so it needs a hard, fairly open surface. On wood or tile it ricochets around unpredictably, which is exactly what you want. On a thick rug it bogs down and stops, and a stalled toy teaches a cat to ignore it.
What it doesn't replace
Solo toys fill time; they don't build the bond or give you the read on your cat's health that hands-on play does. Think of this as something for the hours you're not there, not as a way of buying out of playing with her.

What's included
1 x automatic rolling cat toy ball
Care & maintenance
Wipe the shell with a dry or barely damp cloth. Never put it in water — the battery and motor are sealed inside but not waterproof. The feather is the first thing to go; trim it back when it gets chewed rather than letting your cat swallow the loose strands.

Damaged, faulty or wrong item - tell us within 7 days and we'll replace or refund in full. We can't take change-of-mind returns, which is why every page says who it isn't for.
Ask before you buy
Send your pet's measurements, breed and age and we'll tell you honestly whether this suits - including when it doesn't.
Questions
Before you order
Will my cat just get bored of it?
Eventually, like any toy. The fix is rotation - put it away for a couple of weeks and bring it back out, and it's new again. Cats habituate to anything constantly available, which is why the 45-minute shutdown helps rather than hinders.
Does it work on carpet?
On short, flat carpet, mostly. On thick pile or a deep rug it bogs down and stalls. It's really built for wood, tile or laminate.
Is it noisy?
There's a soft motor hum and the bell inside. Quiet enough to leave running in another room, loud enough that a cat in the next room will come and look.
Can I leave it on while I'm out?
That's what the 45-minute shutdown is for. Clear the floor of anything it could wedge under first, and shut doors to rooms you don't want it in.
My cat is frightened of it. What do I do?
Switch it off and leave it on the floor for a day or two so she can investigate it on her own terms. Then run it in short bursts while you're in the room. Some cats never take to self-moving toys - if she's still avoiding it after a week, she's told you her answer.
Can I replace the catnip or the feather?
The catnip is sealed inside the shell and isn't refillable; it fades over a few months but the light and movement keep working. Trim the feather back when it gets chewed rather than letting your cat swallow loose strands.
Does it come with a charging cable?
