If this sounds familiar
You've got the lead in one hand, a bag in the other, and a bottle that needs both hands to open.
Halfway up the hill they need water and you need a free hand, and something always ends up on the ground.
You carry water, then carry treats separately, and one of the two reliably gets left at home.
Why you'll love it
Built for the hand that's already holding a lead.
A trough, not a spout
Wide enough for them to lap from properly rather than licking at a nozzle. One button releases the water, and the rubber ring keeps what they don't drink off your shoes.
Treats in the base
A 100g compartment underneath, so the water and the reward travel together instead of one of them sitting on the kitchen counter.
One-handed, with a safety lock
Press to release, lock it shut for the bag. You never need the second hand, which is the entire point when the other one has a dog on the end of it.
Coconut shell carbon filter
Takes the chlorine taste out of tap water, which matters for dogs who turn their nose up at a bottle. See the note below on what a carbon filter does and doesn't do.
How it works
What the carbon actually does
Will it fit
pick by how far you walk
a snack, not a meal
with a rubber spill ring
improves taste only
The description quotes 19 ounces of water, which is the 550ml version - the 350ml holds about 12 ounces. Dimensions and weight aren't published yet, so if it has to fit a particular bag pocket or a bike cage, message us first. And the 100g food compartment is treat-sized: a handful of rewards for a walk, not a meal for a medium dog.
Simple to use
Fill from the tap. Lock it. Walk.
Wash it, then fill from a tap
Rinse everything before first use and let it dry. Always fill from a tap, or from water you'd drink yourself - the filter improves the taste of safe water, it doesn't make unsafe water safe.
Engage the lock before it goes in the bag
The lock is what stops the button being pressed by everything else in there. Worth making a habit of in the first few days rather than discovering the alternative.
Offer early, pour the rest away
On a warm walk offer water every twenty minutes or so, before they're panting hard. When you get home, empty whatever's left rather than leaving it standing until tomorrow.
Great for
- Long walks, hikes and days out
- Anyone walking with one hand already occupied
- Dogs who won't drink water that tastes of chlorine
- Carrying treats and water as one thing
- Car journeys and camping trips
- Puppies in training, where the reward needs to be to hand
Not ideal for
- Filling from streams, puddles or lakes - carbon doesn't make water safe
- Carrying a meal. The compartment is 100g, treat-sized.
- Wet food in the compartment
- A full day's water for a large dog - 550ml is one good drink
- Leaving water standing in it between walks

Carrying water properly on a long walk
Why dogs refuse bottled water
It's usually taste. Chlorinated tap water smells strongly to a dog, and water that's sat in warm plastic picks up more of that plastic than you'd expect. A carbon filter deals with the first; filling cold and fresh deals with the second. A dog who drinks readily on a walk is usually a dog whose water tastes of nothing much.
What dogs actually catch from streams
Giardia is the common one, and it comes from drinking standing or slow-moving water that livestock or wildlife have been near. It causes several miserable days and it needs treating. No carbon filter stops it. The only reliable answer on a walk is water you brought with you from a tap.
Treats and water belong together
The reason training falls apart on walks usually isn't the dog. It's that the rewards were in a different pocket, or still at home. Something that carries both means the treat is available at the moment it's worth giving, which is the only moment it does anything.
Carbon filters are consumables
Every carbon filter saturates and stops working, and the ones built into bottles are the easiest of all to forget about. If spares are sold, replace it on schedule. If they aren't, treat the filter as a good first few months rather than a permanent feature - and keep the bottle clean either way, because a damp filter is exactly the surface bacteria like.

What's included
1 x Dog water bottle with treat compartment
Carbon filter and hanging rope fitted
Care & maintenance
Rinse the trough and bottle after every walk and leave them open to dry - never store it damp or with water still in it. Hand wash in warm soapy water; we're confirming whether it's dishwasher safe, so assume not until then. Take the filter out when you give the bottle a proper clean, and keep anything other than water out of it entirely.

Questions
Before you order
Can I fill it from a stream while hiking?
No. The carbon filter improves taste, it doesn't remove bacteria or giardia - and giardia from standing water is the usual way dogs pick up a few miserable days. Fill from a tap before you set off.
How does my dog drink from it?
There's a wide trough rather than a nozzle, so they lap from it normally. One button releases water into the trough, and a rubber ring keeps whatever they don't drink from going down your leg.
Which size should I get?
Go by walk length rather than dog size. 350ml suits an ordinary walk. 550ml - the 19 ounce one - suits longer outings, and for a large dog treat it as one good drink rather than a day's supply.
How long does the filter last, and can I replace it?
We're confirming both with the manufacturer. Carbon filters do saturate and stop working, so it matters - message us before ordering if that's a deciding factor.
How much food does the compartment hold?
100g, which is a handful of treats or a small dog's meal. It isn't enough to feed a medium or large dog, and it's for dry food only.
Will it leak in my bag?
There's a safety lock and a rubber spill ring, which is the right design for it. Get into the habit of engaging the lock before it goes in, and carry it upright the first few times to see how yours behaves.
Can I put anything other than water in it?
Water only. Anything else leaves residue in the trough and in the filter, and the filter in particular is very hard to clean out once something has been through it.
